Gerardus Hendriks, also known as George Henry Hendriks, was a Dutch painter who worked in Rotterdam during the second half of the 19th century. He specialized in painting woodland and river landscapes, seascapes, and winter scenes. He was born in Amsterdam and spent most of his working life around Rotterdam and painting the area of the Scheldt Estuary. He loved capturing the working life on the water and this was a dominant theme in his work. He also painted rural scenes of cattle and live stock and the occasional still life. Little is currently known about his life but you can see the Dutch tradition evident in his practise. There are examples of his work in the National Trust collection of Scotland and also the Rijksmuseum Enshcede Amsterdam.
