Our Historical Research Reports uncover the stories your paintings hold — tracing their age, origin, possible artists, stylistic influences, and sitter identity where applicable. We combine visual analysis with targeted research into archives, catalogues, and historical references.

Each report includes:

  • High-resolution photography (front, back, details, and signature) can be provided by you.

  • Analysis of materials, style, and technique

  • Artist attribution possibilities, and dates.

  • Historical context of the sitter or subject

Integration of any provenance or documentation provided by you

What we require:

For both services, please provide:

  1. High-resolution photographs – front, back, frame, and any signature or notable details area of damage.

  2. Known provenance or history – ownership records, documents, or exhibition history

Purpose of the report – insurance, valuation, scholarly research, or personal interest

We encourage clients to share all available ownership history, certificates, or archival references to enrich the research. The result is a scholarly, compelling document that enhances the value and narrative of your artwork.

For historical research reports we can work from your photographs. For condition reports and quotes its best we see the paintings in the flesh so to speak, in some cases though we can work from photographs or videos.

All reports represent a professional opinion based on visual examination. They are not a guarantee of authnticity, artist attribution, or market value.
